This site started from a frustration. Most of the explanations of hosting, domains and certificates that people find online are either written for engineers or written to sell something. Beginners get a wall of jargon or a list of affiliate links. We wanted a place that explains how things work, says when something is not worth worrying about, and says plainly when it is.
What you will find here
- The blog, with longer articles on hosting, domains, SSL and applications.
- Small tools that run in your browser, so nothing you type is sent to us.
- A reference library of guides, cheat sheets and checklists.
- Recurring series: explainers, failure case studies, myth-checking, data-centre tours and domain lessons.
- A reader Q&A, Ask the Host, and a place to send your own story.
How we write
We try to explain a thing once, correctly, and link to it afterwards. We try to say what we do not know. When a number is a rough rule of thumb, we say so, and when something has changed, we change the page. Where we use a composite example, we label it as one.
Money
The site is paid for by advertising from Google AdSense. Advertisers have no say over what we write, and ads are labelled and kept away from forms and tool inputs. We do not rank hosts by commission. If we ever add affiliate links, they will be marked, and they will not influence what we say. The tools are free and need no sign-up.
Corrections
We will get things wrong. Technical details also date quickly, especially certificate rules, email requirements and software versions. If you spot a mistake or something out of date, please tell us. We would rather be corrected than stay wrong.
